Tom Burgess, Tahlia Giumelli announce second daughter’s birth

There is a new addition the Burgess family with Rabbitohs prop Tom Burgess welcoming a “surprise” second daughter with fiancee Tahlia Giumelli.

NRL royalty has a new member, with the Burgess clan announcing the arrival of a “little princess”.

Tom Burgess has welcomed a “surprise” daughter a month early with his fiancee Tahlia Giumelli, sharing the news of her birth via Instagram on Monday.

The Rabbitohs prop, 28, posted a heartfelt black and white snap of himself and his fiance beaming down at their second child in hospital, before revealing the couple were “still deciding” on a name.

He wrote they were excited to take their “very healthy” newest arrival home to meet their eldest daughter, one year-old Sophie.

“Will never get over the miracle of childbirth, we welcomed our second little princess,” Burgess wrote.

“A bit of a surprise but baby and mum are all great … we can’t wait to take our little girl home and introduce her to her big sister. Still deciding on a name.”

Burgess gave “big thanks” to midwives and doctors who helped deliver their little girl, and praised his partner as a ‘legend” throughout the birth.

The parents said their little girl arrived early at 36 weeks.

The newborn is yet to be named.

Ms Giumelli, 28, also posted a pair of intimate family snaps and shared her daughter had arrived at four weeks early but tipped the scales just like her rugby player dad, who weighs in at 120kg.

“Our little girl, she decided to surprise us and greet us early at 36 weeks,” Ms Giumelli wrote.

“Born in a super speedy 5 hours at a healthy 3.5 kgs … big for a premmie #burgessbaby.”

She also revealed the young family had been expecting a boy.

“Our bundle of joy is yet to be named but we are so in love with her and can’t wait for Sophie to meet her little sister … So yes Rupert was a Rupertina after all haha,” Ms Giumelli’s post read.
