Michelle Bridges enforces strict ‘no cuddling’ rule on partner Steve Willis as he competes on Survivor

HE has arguably one of the fittest bodies in Australia. So it’s no wonder Michelle Bridges has given partner Steve ‘Commando’ Willis a strict “no cuddling” rule when she learned he was offered a spot on the new series of Survivor.

WHEN Steve “Commando” Willis told his partner Michelle Bridges he’d been offered a spot on Channel 10’s latest season of Survivor, she had one rule for him — “no cuddling”.

But despite her hands-off policy for any prospective camp mates, Bridges was all for the new TV gig.

“She was like, ‘if you commit to this, just do your best babe, be yourself, be true to you and you’ve got my support, just enjoy the experience,’ ” he said.

PR PRINCESSES REVEAL JUST HOW TOUGH THE INDUSTRY IS

Willis is without doubt the most famous face on Ten’s reboot of the popular reality franchise which will see 12 everyday Aussies take on 12 champions of public life for the title of sole Survivor.

The champions, who include NRL star Mat Rogers and swimming legend Shane Gould, will spend up to 55 days stranded on a remote beach in Fiji.

Roughing it and pushing your body to its limit might sounds like a breeze for the former CrossFit champion — who spent a decade in the Australian Special Forces — but he says missing his kids Brianna, 19, Ella, 10, Jack, 6, and Axel, 2, will be his biggest challenge.

“I love my family more than anything,” the 41-year-old said. “Not having contact with them is going to be very, very tough.”

After leaving The Biggest Loser in 2015, Willis wasn’t sure he wanted to return to TV.

But his mantra of “walking the talk” was at the back of his mind when Survivor came calling.

“It’s important to show my vulnerabilities, weaknesses and suffering and give permission to other everyday Aussies that it’s all right, too,” he said.

“If the Commando can do this, people might think, ‘I can do that, too,’ and that’s something I’ve really made my life about over these past couple of years.”

The show, which debuts on August 1, carries a first prize of $500,000, spicing up the battle between the celebrities and the everyday Aussies.

“(If I won), I’m like any other person — I’ve got lots of bills that need to be paid,” Willis said.

“That’s the thing with having your face on TV, people think that you’re cashed-up to the eyeballs and burn money to keep yourself warm. It isn’t always true.

“There’s a lot of work that I do that’s unpaid with RUOK? and juvenile justice, which is important.

“I haven’t thought too much about it, it’s not my motivating factor.

“I’ll take it as it comes in that sense and then go from there.”
