Michael Guider released from prison, 33 years after Samantha Knight’s death
Michael Guider waddled to restrictive freedom from Long Bay jail this afternoon, with a massive tumour clearly protruding from his groin area. The killer was controversially released after 23 years for the 1986 manslaughter of nine-year-old Samantha Knight.

Freed child killer and paedophile Michael Guider made his way out of prison yesterday with something an outraged public hopes is painful and fatal - a massive tumour which has developed in his groin area.
Sources said the serial sex offender had refused treatment to shrink the tumour which caused him to waddle as he walked from Long Bay Jail yesterday.
There had been no mention during the 11th-hour fight to keep him locked up that he suffered from any medical condition but the tumour was clearly protruding from beneath his loose grey shirt and black trousers.
Wearing an electronic monitoring bracelet, which was fixed to his ankle before he stepped outside the prison doors, Guider, 68, will be living at Nunyara, a former periodic detention centre in the grounds of Long Bay Jail which has its own entrance.

As families who live close to the jail spoke of fears for their children, notoriously tough former prisons boss Ron Woodham said he should never have been let out.
“I wouldn’t let the bastard out,” Mr Woodham, who retired as Corrective Services NSW Commissioner four years ago, said.
“He wasn’t trouble in jail but you would never trust him in my opinion, never, because of his offences.”
Guider will be sharing Nunyara, where he has his own room, with up to 35 other high risk criminals including released sex offenders who cannot immediately find anywhere else to live.
Mr Woodham, who created the Nunyara system of houses in 2008, said it won’t be pleasant with housemates like that.
“But he wants to think himself lucky that he got out,” he said.
Ignoring calls of “where’s Samantha”, the killer of nine-year-old Bondi schoolgirl Samantha Knight, waddled to a waiting car which took him to Blacktown Police Station chased by paparazzi in cars, on motorbikes and with a helicopter.
He was processed by Community Corrections officers as a free man before going back to Nunyara where he has a curfew between 6pm and 6am.
Guider’s $240 board and lodging will be taken out of his pension every two weeks covering food and board. He will have to cook his own meals.
His single room, not much bigger than his cell, has a bed and a desk and can be locked. He will share a kitchen, bathroom and dining room and there is one television set to share.
Guider won’t have to repay the estimated $100,000 it cost taxpayers for the archaeology degree he studied behind bars while serving 23 years for Samantha’s manslaughter and the abuse of 13 girls and boys, The Daily Telegraph can reveal.
Father of a 10-year-old daughter, John Percy, who lives close to Nunyara house said the family was already scared.
“My wife is already nervous about him being let out,” he said.
“The community won’t stand for him being let out around here.”
Another neighbour, Ibi Kamel, said: “My two-year-old daughter’s day care is just down the road from where he will be living.
“It is disgusting. He should be out away from where people are living.”
As well as more than 50 conditions imposed by the NSW Supreme Court which refused a State bid to keep him locked up on an interim detention order for another year, Guider will be locked into Nunyara every night, cannot drink, take drugs and will not be allowed to leave the building alone.
“The offender will be confined to the centre until suitable accommodation can be found,” a Corrective Services NSW spokeswoman said.
“Nunyara helps offenders build life skills by requiring them to cook, clean, budget, perform grounds maintenance and seek long-term employment and accommodation.
“He will be escorted by staff if any essential appointments outside of the centre need to be made.”
