MARK Buddle, the former boss of the Comanchero bikie gang and a person of interest in the cold-blooded murder of a Sydney security guard, has left the country and is now living overseas.

Buddle was the self-proclaimed boss of the outlaw bikie gang when Gary Allibon was shot in the back during the early-morning robbery of a cash-in-transit van in Sussex Street on June 7, 2010.

The 59-year-old security guard had handed over a cash box and was walking away from the robbers with his hands in the air when he was shot.

Buddle and three of his associates became a major focus of the police investigation and are still considered persons of interest in the ongoing case, but no charges have been laid.

The 31-year-old left Australia early this year with his long-time girlfriend Mel Ter Wisscha and is now living in Turkey, where a number of other Comanchero bikies are known to spend time.

“There are a few Comancheros with Turkish backgrounds and he would know them,’’ a senior NSW police source said.

An earlier attempt to leave Australia on a private jet with Ms Ter Wisscha resulted in Buddle being arrested in mid-2015.

The pair were en route to New Caledonia last July when they were stopped at Newcastle airport, where Australian Border Force officers found more than $60,000 in cash in clothing belonging to the pair.

According to a NSW police source, Buddle said the money was a wedding gift from a well-known Sydney identity and another senior ranking Comanchero. He was charged with dealing with the proceeds of crime and was jailed for nearly two months before being granted bail to appear at Newcastle court.

In January this year the more serious charges against Buddle were dropped and the pair pleaded guilty to attempting to take $10,000 or more out of the country without declaring it.

They were fined $2000 each, given back their passports and their money.

The source said it was believed Buddle left the country because he was worried about being arrested in relation to the Allibon holdup and murder.
