DETECTIVES are still hunting a killer after a man was shot dead at a known drug buying hot spot in Cabramatta, in Sydney’s south west on Saturday.
Hung Robert Tran, 24, was found dead in Jasmine Cr, Cabramatta about 10.45pm after reports of at least four gunshots in rapid succession.
It was later ascertained that the male victim resided in Canley Vale.
Following the discovery, police launched Strike Force Mackane to investigate the killing and now believe Mr Tran arrived at the murder scene in his own vehicle, a white 2009 VW Golf GTI with the NSW registration CZZ29Y.
The vehicle is still missing and police believe it may have been stolen from the scene following Mr Tran’s murder.
Strike force detectives released images of Mr Tran and his vehicle as part of their hunt for his killer.
They said anyone who spotted the vehicle should not approach it but should contact police.
“Investigations are continuing and anyone with information that may assist police with their inquiries is urged to come forward,” a NSW Police Force spokesman said.

It has also emerged that the scene of the shooting is a well known hot spot for drug deals.
Locals have told The Daily Telegraph it was not uncommon to see drug deals going down by the roadside almost around the lock.
“Sometimes I see it at night-time or daytime, just someone come, they sell and they go ... no one makes a report, I don’t know why. I think they are scared,” Minh Chau, 49, who regularly visits friends in the street, said.
