THE alleged mastermind of the execution of Sydney teenager Brayden Dillon has been arrested at Sydney International Airport after hiding out in Thailand for more than a year.
Detectives issued a warrant for the arrest of Abdul Abu-Mahmoud, 33, last September but he had already boarded a plane and left the country.
Police allege Abu-Mahmoud orchestrated the murder of Brayden in the early hours of April 14 last year. The 15-year-old was shot in the head as he lay in his bed in Glenfield, in the city’s southwest.

Abu-Mahmoud, who was associated with the Brothers for Life gang, is alleged to have organised the hit on the teen in a revenge attack after Brayden’s older brother stabbed someone else.
Police say the victim of the first attack was Abu-Mahmoud’s nephew.
Abu-Mahmoud was taken to Surry Hills police station on Thursday where he was charged with murder. His arrest follows that of alleged gunman Conrad Craig, his sister Kimberly Craig, Sophie Massie and Torek Ayoub.
It will also be alleged Abu-Mahmoud contacted the gunman in the lead-up to Brayden’s murder.
He was refused bail and is set to appear before Central Local Court on Friday.
NSW Police said investigations into the murder were continuing.
“A man has been arrested over his alleged role in the murder of a teenager from Sydney’s southwest last year, after he arrived back in Australia on an international flight,” a spokesman said.
“Four people have previously been charged by investigators. They remain before the courts.”
Police first linked Abu-Mahmoud to the murder after discovering he had allegedly threatened to kill Brayden’s older brother and his family at a court appearance.
