Trendy new takeaway shop opens its doors in East Lismore, as a much-loved pizza joint also reopens
There’s been a flurry of activity at a couple of vacant commercial premises along Wyrallah Road, and it can only mean good things for hungry locals.

Don't miss out on the headlines from Lismore. Followed categories will be added to My News.
Just a couple of years ago there was a spate of business closures in East Lismore.
Popular Asian fusion restaurant Uncle Lim’s closed its Wyrallah Road premises in October 2019 before reopening in the Lismore CBD a couple of months later.
In December 2019, ASYA Groceries ‒ which was on the corner of Wyrallah Road and Dalley Street ‒ also closed its doors.
The building is still vacant and up for sale.
Popular pie shop, Country Kitchen Corner on Wyrallah Rd at East Lismore, also closed in 2019.
Mine & Gary’s Fiveways closed in September 2019 and was sold to the Lismore Wesleyan Methodist Church of Australia, becoming a community centre and op-shop.
But there are two high profile commercial spaces which have been reinvented in recent months, and locals are excited.
Il Carretto Sourdough Woodfired Pizza has taken over the former Country Kitchen Corner shop and is reopening it on Wednesday morning as a trendy takeaway joint, called East Side.
The opening has been highly anticipated.
On social media they posted: “Opening this Wednesday 7am ‒ 2pm. Lismore’s got a takeaway joint on the eastside now.
“Coffee, smoothies, breaky, burgers, rolls, pies, Pastizzis, croissants, veg/gf options.
“Made fresh every morning.”
They’ll be serving Moonshine coffee and using Henry’s Bakery bread and Norco milk, with fruit and vegetables from PJs Country Fruit and Veg.
Commenting on the news of the opening date, Lara Bell wrote: “I live around the corner and I’m ridiculously excited.”
Ashleigh Rankin: “So excited! Can’t wait to come down and grab a coffee to celebrate!”
Libby Lineen: “You had me at Pastizzis! Congrats.”
Meanwhile, Mega Pizza Wyrallah Road has also reopened after a long period of being closed.
It is now under new ownership, but the new owners have been having “pizza lessons” with former owner, Barry.
So you can expect all your old favourites, made the same way.
It’s open seven days, 5pm until 9pm, and they now do online orders.
