Teen charged over Casino KFC brawl which allegedly led to Lachlan Andrews’ death
An 18-year-old has been arrested after a brutal brawl broke out at Casino KFC last month, which allegedly led to 17-year-old Lachlan Andrews’ death.

An 18-year-old has been charged following a brawl which allegedly lead to the death of Lachlan Andrews, 17, at the Casino KFC last month.
The man was charged after Mr Andrews tragically died at the scene and another person was allegedly wounded.
Emergency services were called to the busy KFC restaurant on Centre Street in Casino on May 29 after reports of a brawl.
On arrival, officers from Richmond Police District, alongside NSW Ambulance paramedics, found multiple teenagers with stab wounds.
The defendant was flown to Lismore Base Hospital for treatment, where he remains in a stable condition.
A crime scene was established at the KFC carpark and forensically examined by specialist police.
Strike Force Meryta was set up by detectives from the Richmond Police District and an investigation commenced into the incident, assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.
Following inquiries, the man was arrested at Casino Police Station yesterday.
The man was charged with affray and using an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.
He has been granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Casino Local Court on June 23.
Richmond Police District Commander Scott Tanner said footage obtained of the incident allegedly showed a large crowd involved in the melee.
“From initial inquiries there seems to have been some kind of arranged meeting,” Supt. Tanner said.
“Out of that meeting there was an altercation that started between a number of persons then a number of other persons became involved,” Supt. Tanner said.
The teen, who had been working as a labourer on flood-affected homes on the NSW North Coast has been remembered as a “bright” young man with a “lot of life in him”.
