Shonee Dillon Allston jailed after police pursuit
After eluding police in a police pursuit after they tried to arrest him on outstanding warrants, a North Coast man has met his fate.

The law has caught up with a North Coast man who had been eluding police before a dramatic arrest in Ballina.
Shonee Dillon Allston, 27, appeared via videolink in Casino Local Court on Thursday to learn his fate.
He pleaded guilty to common assault, fail to appear in court, carrying a cutting weapon upon apprehension, two counts of driving recklessly during a police pursuit and speeding by more than 45km/h.
Allston also entered guilty pleas to four counts of hinder or resist police officer in the execution of their duty.
Police went to a property on Westlands Dr at West Ballina to arrest the unemployed man, who had three outstanding warrants, about 9pm on January 10.
Police approached the property from an adjoining street and noticed Allston standing in the doorway of a caravan.
Court documents state officers saw Allston ran to a Mercedes Benz parked on the front lawn.
Police went after him and a struggle ensued as the officers tried to stop him starting the car.
An officer hopped in the front passenger seat and grabbed Allston’s arm to stop him.
Allston “thrashed about” and struggled violently against police, with the scuffle resulting in all involved tumbling to the ground, police facts detailed.
Police handcuffed Allston after some wrestling and found the knife in his pocket before he was taken to Ballina Police Station.
Magistrate Roger Prowse convicted Allston on all charges.
Allston was sentenced to three years and two months jail with a non-parole period of two years and four months.
Mr Prowse disqualified Allston from holding a driving licence on the two counts of police pursuit fail to stop drive recklessly for three and five years respectively.
He issued a six month disqualification for exceeding the speed limit more than 45 km/h.
Allston will be eligible for parole on May 9, 2025.
