Jeffrey Roy Christensen charged with five counts of aggravated indecent assault of teenage girl more than 25 years ago

A woman has come forward alleging a man supplied her with alcohol and cannabis and raped her when she was a teen more than two decades ago. The man is set to fight the charges.

Jeffrey Roy Christensen, 54, has been charged with five counts of aggravated indecent assault.

Police allege he offended against the girl between 1996 and 1997 in the Northern Rivers.

The Ballina man faced Coffs Harbour District Court on January 30, pleading not guilty to all charges.

Police allege in court documents that on one occasion Christensen began massaging the then-13-year-old girl’s back.

He allegedly pulled her pants down and began massaging her buttocks, telling the child: “I can do the front if you like.”

It’s alleged Christensen sexually abused the woman when she was a teenager.

She said she refused and said it made her feel uncomfortable.

“I felt disgusting. I didn‘t understand what was going on,” she told the court more than 25 years later.

On another occasion, the man and the girl were sitting around a campfire when Christensen allegedly offered her two beers and cannabis, which she accepted.

The woman told the court she felt “paralysed” by the cannabis and sat down in a tent.

Christensen allegedly entered the tent while the young girl felt “paralysed” by cannabis, pulled her clothes off and forced himself on her.

It’s alleged Christensen entered the tent, pulled the girl’s clothes off and raped her.

“I was crying, I couldn’t move – I couldn’t even make a sound,” she told the court.

The woman said the was in extreme pain and “thought I was dying”.

Christensen left without saying anything to her, leaving the girl bloodied and feeling so unwell she vomited, it’s alleged.

Asked in court why she did not inform anyone, she said she felt ashamed.

“I thought I did the wrong thing by accepting the beer and marijuana,” she said.

On another occasion a few weeks later, in 1997, it’s alleged Christensen pushed her face into a pillow while she was lying on a bed.

Police allege he said: “You’ve had it before, shut the f--k up and if you say anything, I’ll tell them it was you.”

The woman told the court she wanted to kill herself after the sex attack.

The young girl tried to commit suicide after the horrific actions, the victim alleged in court.

“I tried to overdose on whatever medicine I could find,” she told the court.

Christensen allegedly forced the girl into a violent act of sex, this time in a drunken state, on another occasion in Toormina.

He allegedly put his hands around the back of her neck, forcing her to walk toward the bedroom and said: “Let’s go.”

Police allege Christensen pushed the girl’s face down on the bed and put his knee on her back while taking off her clothes.

The woman claims he sexually assaulted her while she struggled, kicking and screaming.

Christensen has denied the allegations and told police he had no sexual interest in the girl and had a good relationship with her.

Christensen will next face Coffs Harbour District Court on March 29 for mention.
