A caravan caught fire last night in Shannon Brook – south of Casino – the night before the owners had planned to take a trip in it.

About 8.40pm, a silver 2017 Eyeliner caravan caught ablaze in a shed at a Guirens Road home.

The owners had smelled smoke and went outside to investigate, finding the underside of their caravan on fire.

The couple – who had planned to take the caravan out the next day – managed to hook it up to their car and tow it out before calling emergency services.

Local Indy reporter and photographer Jackson Whitney, from JW Media, captured the blaze on camera.

When police arrived, the caravan was completely engulfed in flames.

RFS put out the blaze, and police ensured the occupants were unharmed.

The caravan was totally destroyed. The cause is being investigated, with police suspecting an electrical fault.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

“Luckily, there was no structural damage to the surrounding buildings,” Inspector McKenna of Richmond Police District said.
