A Lismore woman has come undone after a graffiti rampage in Lismore Square where she scrawled on walls that her ex-partner had genital warts, posted his phone number and encouraged people to call and abuse him.

Leonie May Hewes, 35 – who also goes by the name of Kassie Kay – was convicted of two counts of intentional destruction of property, attempting to intimidate to cause fear of harm, and three breaches of an AVO at Lismore Local Court on Friday, September 30.

Hewes was captured on CCTV defacing a sign in the underground of Lismore Square Shopping Complex with: “4 F****** LIFE C***”, and “BEWARE OF (name of victim) HE HAS GENITAL WARTS”.

She signed off the message with: “Made with all my love from lee lee”.

Staff at the Lismore Square Shopping Complex noticed the graffiti on September 6, 2021.

Several other signs and walls were damaged and defaced with graffiti at Lismore Square - in the bathrooms and underground carpark, and at a bus stop.

“HELP, GIRLS … I CALL TO ARMS,” Hewes scrawled, according to court documents.

“EVER HAD YOUR HEART BROKEN AND DREAMT OF ALL THE WAYS YOU HAVE YOUR REVENGE.

“EXCELLENT, SO NOW I WANT Y’ALL TO CALL MY EX AND TELL HIM WHAT A ‘W*****’ HE IS FOR ‘JUST BREATHING’.

“THANKS FOR YOUR HELP PEACE OUT XX.”

Hewes then posted photos of the “malicious damage” on her Facebook profile, which police found after Lismore Square staff reported the damage, police facts stated.

A review of the social media posts outlined further damage to a council sign at Crozier Field Lismore. This sign was across the road from the Square.

Police facts stated Hewes had revealed the victim’s business name, mobile phone number and residential address in her graffiti.

“The graffiti damage throughout the complex included the consistent theme of harassing, derogatory and slanderous comments in relation to the victim,” according to the police facts.

Hewes and the victim were previously in an intimate domestic relationship and the victim had agreed to have Hewes live with him.

The victim told police Hewes had contacted him to stay with him as a bail residence, because “she had nowhere to go”.

He allowed her to stay until he asked her to leave on September 5, 2021 because she was constantly intoxicated and abusive towards him, police facts stated.

According to court documents, when police arrested Hewes she told them: “I can’t hate him, so he has to hate me. He cheated on me when I was locked up and got warts from another girl so I had to embarrass him, I had a brain snap.”

Magistrate Jeff Linden convicted and sentenced Hewes to a two-year community corrections order, effective from September 30, 2022.
