Tweed Heads taxi stolen at knifepoint on Leeward Terrace
Police are on the hunt for a passenger who wielded a knife at his driver before stealing the car in Tweed.

Police are on the hunt for a taxi passenger who wielded a knife at his driver before stealing the car in Tweed.
Police will allege a 63-year-old taxi driver picked up a man on Leeward Terrace about 4pm on Monday and drove the man to a supermarket on Wharf Street before returning him to the pick-up address.
There, the passenger produced a knife threatening the driver before driving away in the taxi.
Luckily, the driver was not injured.
Officers from Tweed Byron Police District attended and commenced an investigation, with police issuing a description of a man who they believe can assist with inquiries.
The man is described as being of caucasian appearance, aged about 25, about 180cm tall with a medium build and dark hair.
At the time he was wearing blue jeans and a black T-shirt.
The taxi is a 2015 model Toyota Prius and has signage on both front doors and the rear bumper.
Police warn anyone seeing the vehicle not to approach it but call triple-0 (000).
