Tobias Friedrich Moran had his case mentioned in Lismore Local Court on Wednesday.
The 42-year-old previously named Tobias Suckfuell faces charges of murdering his then-girlfriend and perverting the course of justice.
The court heard the Director of Public Prosecutions has been ordered to serve about 3000 new pages of evidence by March 22.
Meanwhile, Moran has applied for the Crown to dismiss the charges against him.
The thousands of pages of new information could bring the cold case one step closer to trial.
Ms Strobel, 25, was last seen at Lismore Tourist Caravan Park on the NSW North Coast on February 11, 2005, after a night out with her boyfriend Tobias Moran and friends.
Ms Strobel’s naked body was found six days later hidden under palm fronds less than 100m from her campsite.
Police arrested Moran at his Perth home and he was extradited to Sydney last year after being charged.
Moran has denied any involvement in Ms Strobel’s death.
He will appear in the court via video link from his Western Australian address, where he has been allowed to reside while on bail, for charge certification on April 26.
