A Casino man is behind bars on remand after he fled from police at almost 90km over the speed limit in a stolen Toyota HiLux on Tuesday.

Terrance Charles Gregory Walker faced Lismore Local Court on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old pleaded guilty to police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, driving a motor vehicle while his licence was suspended and receiving property stolen outside of NSW.

Police were informed of the ute stolen from Queensland travelling south on Summerland Way at Wiangaree, towards Kyogle, about 2.40pm on Tuesday.

Officers tracked the silver HiLux by GPS and tried to pull the vehicle over further along Summerland Way, according to court documents.

Walker pulled the car over near Boorabee St, but he sped off as police approached on foot.

Police took off after Walker as his vehicle hit about 150kmh and they officially began a pursuit.

However, the chase was terminated shortly after due to safety concerns.

Police set up road spikes on Fairy Mount Creek Bridge to snare Walker, but he avoided them.

Walker swerved into a northbound lane to overtake a ute travelling south, the documents state.

The HiLux nearly hit cars stopped at the spiked location before Walker took the vehicle back into a southbound lane and sped off.

Walker was seen dangerously overtaking a car on a sweeping corner at speeds of no less than 175kmh.

Walker was then recorded hitting speeds of up to 186kmh in a 100kmh zone.

Police continued to follow using GPS as Walker drove through the middle of Casino.

He travelled east on Spring Grove Rd towards Canaiba.

Police used spikes to deflate all four of the ute's tyres before swooping in to arrest Walker.

The HiLux is the property of The Botha Family Group Pty Ltd.

Walker knew the ute was stolen when he took possession of it, court documents state.

Walker was refused bail by Magistrate Kathy Crittenden.

He is due to be sentenced on May 8.
