A Northern Rivers man who was allegedly caught with hundreds of sexually explicit photos of children and cartoons will head to sentence.
Solomon Dimitrius Adeonis Sebastian Canuto appeared before Lismore Local Court via videolink from Cessnock Correctional Facility on Wednesday.
In February 2019, NSW Police initiated an investigation after receiving information a man was filming children.
As part of their inquiries, police spoke to Canuto and seized his mobile phone which was examined by the Digital Forensic Investigation Unit.
Police will allege officers found 249 photographs of children in the Northern Rivers community, cartoon images and anime of children in sexual positions and adult pornographic images.
On Wednesday, the court was told a charge of using a carriage service to access child abuse material and failing to comply with reporting obligations were to proceed to Lismore District Court sentence.
Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions Julia Detheridge indicated six other charges had been withdrawn as the matter progresses to Lismore District Court.
Six of these were failing to comply with reporting obligations and one count of using a carriage service to access child abuse material.
Solicitor Tom Ivey handed up agreed facts and case conference material as he asked for a short adjournment.
He said it was due to further discussions about Canuto’s time served.
Magistrate Jeff Linden adjourned the matter for Lismore District Court mention on October 20.
