A Kippenduff man has faced court after allegedly seizing eight guns in a brazen break and enter near Evans Head.
Matthew Steven Rae, 39, faced Casino Local Court today (May 5) charged with multiple larceny offences.
Police will allege the Kippenduff broke into a shed on Whiporie Rd, Bungawalbin, and stole eight firearms between February 14 and 23.
Police will also allege Rae broke into a shed on Stibbard Rd, Dungurubba, and stole several power tools on April 24.
Rae has also been charged with receiving stolen car parts, stealing a trailer and aggravated breaking and entering into a home.
The accused was arrested yesterday after a police investigation led to a search of Rae’s home on Brewers Rd, in Kippenduff, west of Evans Head.
Several firearms were seized and are undergoing forensic examination.
Rae has been charged with one count of breaking and entering a house and stealing, four counts of receiving stolen motor vehicle part – serious indictable offence, two counts of possessing suspected stolen goods, one count of receiving stolen property – serious indictable offence, one count of stealing a firearm, one count of stealing property in a dwelling-house, and charges of stealing a trailer and aggravated breaking and entering to steal.
He has pleaded guilty to one count of driving a conveyance without consent, and no pleas have been entered to the other charges.
The accused was bail refused and is to appear in Casino Local Court on May 18.
