A Goonellabah man is readying to fight allegations of kidnapping and perpetrating a terrifying and violent home invasion in the Lismore suburb.
Joshua Walker, 24, has indicated in Lismore Local Court he intends to fight a string of charges against him and plead not guilty.
However, Walker has not yet entered pleas.
Police allege Walker broke a window and entered a Goonellabah unit between 2.30pm and 3.20pm on January 7.
It’s alleged Walker detained and viciously attacked a man and a woman in the home.
Police allege the pair were beaten, suffering head injuries, and that the man was left with injuries to his mouth, specifically his teeth.
It’s also alleged Walker assaulted a police officer soon after and that when he was arrested officers found 0.55 grams of methamphetamines on him.
Walker faces two counts of kidnapping with intent to commit a serious indictable offence – actual bodily harm, two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one count each of assaulting police in the execution of duty without actual bodily harm, destruction of property and possessing a prohibited drug.
He is due to face Lismore Local Court on 26 July, as the case approaches trial.
Walker remains in custody on remand and is set to appear via audio visual link.
