A South Lismore man who punched through a window, viciously bashed a woman and then spat blood in a police officer’s face will remain in the community.

Bailey Jacob Brauman-Frail faced Lismore Local Court on Monday.

On May 1, Brauman-Frail pleaded guilty to three counts of common assault, two counts of assaulting a police officer and one count each of intentionally choking a person with recklessness, resisting a police officer and damaging property.

The 21-year-old South Lismore man went to a Casino address after he finished work shortly after midnight on March 30, the court was told.

Brauman-Frail put his fist through a window at the victim’s home because it was locked, spraying blood all over the floor and walls, after sinking about 15 standard alcoholic drinks in less than two hours.

Brauman-Frail downed about 15 standard drinks before the attack.

He then yelled abuse at the woman inside before choking her with both hands, cutting off her breath, leaving bruises in the shape of fingers on her neck and covering her with his blood.

Brauman-Frail then chased the victim around the house, punching and kicking her.

The woman managed to push Frail off and fled outside to call police for help, according to court documents.

Frail later grabbed the woman in a headlock and tried to punch her in front of two police officers.

Police pulled Brauman-Frail off the victim and he wrestled with the officers before he was arrested and taken to Casino Police Station.

Shortly after he vomited in a cell, officers tried to confiscate two keys from Brauman-Frail during a strip search.

Brauman-Frail violently resisted and more officers were forced to get involved.

He spat blood and saliva into an officer’s face.

Brauman-Frail was taken to Casino Memorial Hospital due to his “intoxication and behaviour”, where he remained “highly aggressive”.

He was handcuffed to a hospital bed to protect staff and Brauman-Frail began “aggressively kicking the handrails and medical equipment”.

Brauman-Frail started “jumping up and down and screaming out”, so officers cuffed a second wrist.

He “looked at one of the police officers, drew back his leg and kicked out at the officer”, striking them in the thigh.

On Monday, Brauman-Frail was sentenced to an eight-month intensive corrections order and a two-year community corrections order.

He was ordered not to drink alcohol and to complete 200 hours of community service.
