The abrupt death of a 24-year-old man in Lismore overnight has left a peaceful neighbourhood bewildered.

Stephen Layton, who lives behind the scene in Clyde Street said the incident was “out of the blue”.

“I’m totally shocked,” he said.

“It was a surprise when I heard the ruckus that was going on last night.”

Mr Layton said the family caught up in the incident were usually quiet.

He was “very, very surprised” by the incident.

“Two young guys from across the road came over and managed to get in, drag them out and had them on the grass,” he said.

It’s believed that pair were rendering assistance to the victims.
