The app includes a new function not available on the website, allowing users to select 10 favourite Northern Rivers roads. They will then receive notifications if there is a crash, flood, or storms affecting any of those roads.

"Our number one aim is to get people safely from A to B," NOROC President Jenny Dowell said.

"The website has been very successful but we realised the next logical step was to create a simple, free app that people could download and have with them at all times.

"The favourite roads function is yet another step forward, as most of us drive to work and back on the same roads day in and day out.

"If we can notify people about delays, accidents or even flash flooding on these roads as they happen, people can make alternative arrangements and avoid these areas."

Download the MyRoadInfo app via the App Store for iPhones, iPods and iPads or the Google Play Store for Android devices.
