Man killed in highway motorcycle accident near Chinderah believed to be Lismore resident

The median strip at the Pacific Highway, just north of Clothiers Creek Road, still shows signs of the tragedy that took the life of a man in his 20s on Saturday.
Unconfirmed reports suggest the man who was killed on the motorcycle accident was a Lismore resident.
Just after 8am on Saturday, September 4, emergency services responded to reports a motorcycle had crashed into a median strip on the M1 Pacific Highway at Chinderah, about 20km south of Tweed Heads.
He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, but died at the scene.
On Sunday, the place of the tragedy was showing the signs of the crash.
Traffic cones were in place to mark the scene of the accident and there was damage visible to the median strip.
Metallic pieces and debris from the vehicle were still visible around the area.
Chief Inspector Dempsey said the Ballina Crash Investigations Unit is investigating the cause of the accident.
“If anyone has any dashcam footage or any other footage of a male riding a motorcycle northbound on the M1 on Saturday morning, please contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000,” he said.
The incident affected traffic on the highway with northbound lanes closed for several hours.
One of the two southbound lanes was also closed.
A report will be prepared for the NSW Coroner.
