Fatal motorcycle crash causes traffic chaos on Pacific Highway
Emergency services rushed to the scene to treat a man in his 20s for significant injuries but despite their best efforts, he could not be saved. The crash has affected highway traffic in both directions.

A young man has lost his life after a serious motorcycle crash on the Pacific Highway near Cabarita on Saturday.
A NSW Ambulance spokesperson confirmed they received a call for help at the Pacific Highway, just north of Clothiers Creek Road about 8.20am.
Three teams were dispatched to the area to treat the rider, who sustained “significant injuries”.
Paramedics tried to revive the man but he succumbed to his injuries.
Chief Inspector at Tweed Byron Police District, Michael Dempsey, said the crash happened in the northbound lanes.
“A motorcyclist collided with the median strip and he was deceased at the scene,” he said.
“He was a male in his 20s.
“Officers from Tweed-Byron Police District attended and found the rider with critical injuries.”
The man is yet to be formally identified.
Ballina Crash Investigations Unit were called to the scene to determine the cause.
“If anyone has any dashcam footage or any other footage of a male riding a motorcycle northbound on the M1 this morning, please contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000,” Chief Inspector Dempsey said.
The incident affected traffic on the highway with northbound lanes closed for several hours.
One of the two southbound lanes was also closed.
Northbound motorists were directed to exit the highway at Yelgun and use Tweed Valley Way via Murwillumbah to re-join the M1 at Chinderah.
The diversion was only suitable for light vehicles.
Heavy vehicles were parked.
