Man from Lismore area charged with kidnapping and raping woman at The Channon property

A man from the Lismore area has been accused of contravening an AVO, kidnapping and raping a woman. Here’s what we know.

A man from the Lismore area who allegedly contravened an AVO, kidnapped and raped a woman has been released on bail.

The man aged in his early 50s - who cannot legally be named to protect the victim’s identity - faced Lismore Local Court on Wednesday.

Police allege the man went to a property at The Channon in October last year, where he assaulted the victim and destroyed her personal property, court documents revealed.

It’s alleged the man detained the woman, groped her genitals and breasts and forced her to participate in sex acts.

He has been charged with incite other to carry out sexual act with them without consent, take/detain person with intent to obtain advantage occasion actual bodily harm and two counts of sexually touch another person without consent.

The man has also been charged with intentionally and recklessly destroy/damage property, stalk or intimidate intending to cause fear of physical or mental harm, six counts of common assault and two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Magistrate Jeff Linden released the man on bail to reappear in the court on February 15.
