A man has narrowly escaped with his life after running off the road and crashing into a tree near Grafton on Thursday.
NSW Ambulance were called to Armidale Rd in Coutts Crossing about 4pm to assist a man believed to be in his 60s.
Paramedics and emergency crews freed the man from the wreckage.
He was treated at the scene by a doctor as part of the NSW Ambulance critical care team.
Shortly after paramedics called the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
He was further treated for burns and multiple injuries before being stabilised.
The man was flown to the Royal Brisbane Hospital in a serious condition.
