LISMORE City Council is calling for tenders for a "floating solar plant" that will be community owned, and located on top of one of the settling ponds in its sewage treatment plant, it has been reported.
The project is part of a unique partnership between the council and the community.
The council has been pursuing a 100% renewable energy target by 2023, and has launched a range of initiatives, including solar projects on the roofs of Goonellabah Sports and Aquatic Centre and the Memorial Baths.
An announcement about the project is set to be made at noon today.
