Lismore votes to increase spending on halls, loan itself $3m

LISMORE council will increase the amount it donates to rural halls from $1000 to $2000 in 2014/15.

LISMORE City Council will increase the amount it donates to rural halls from $1000 to $2000 in 2014/15.

It is one of a number of changes to the Section 356 donations that are now on public exhibition. Other changes include removing the separate Youth Activities Fund and reducing the amount paid to some recipients by 20%.

The council plans to introduce a single Section 356 system to make donations more equitable and efficient through an online application process.

The council has also announced it will create an "internal loan" of $3 million to meet loan repayments for land purchased for the Airport Industrial estate in Krauss Avenue.
