Former police chaplain, priest John Patrick Casey sentenced for reporting breach

A former police chaplain and priest has faced court over breaching reporting conditions. Here is what happened.

A former priest and police chaplain has faced a North Coast court after failing to comply with reporting obligations.

John Patrick Casey, of Goonellabah, was excused from appearing as he was legally represented before Magistrate Michael Dakin in Lismore Local Court on Tuesday.

Casey is charged with three counts of fail to comply with reporting obligations.

Casey, who is on bail, pleaded guilty to three counts of failing to comply with his reporting obligations.

He was convicted on all counts, with one count being withdrawn and dismissed.

Mr Dakin imposed a 15 month community correction order on Casey where he must abstain from committing any offences while on the order and attend court when called upon.
