For 27 years it’s been shining its light on Lismore, and this weekend, the Lantern Parade is back.

So when is it on, and how do you get there?

Like many other events, COVID-19 has forced some changes to this year’s, but after a year without the festival in 2020, it’s good to see it back, whatever the form.

The pandemic forced the relocation of the parade from the CBD to the Lismore Showground main arena, but the Lantern Parade maintains a presence in the centre of town, with lanterns lighting shop windows and streets in the lead up to the event.

Gates open at 11am on Saturday, June 19, with activities such as the Market deLight, Green Couture Catwalk Parade, REGEN Expo, the Hive Mind, Electric Carpool Carrotoke, theCreative Way, KidsArtfest, the Grubby Bucket Show, performances by The Northern Rivers Conservatorium and other local musicians, as well as an appearance by Dirtgirl, Scrapboy and Costa.

The parade will be end with the Fiery Finale, which organisers hint will give a nod to its new location, but the rest is top secret.

Covid health orders restrict numbers at the showground to 5000, and you will need to buy a ticket to attend, but it will give you access to the many activities offered at the festival, from the minute the gates open, until they close.

Tickets to the main grandstand are sold out, but seating was still available at two other grandstands. They have concrete seating, so don’t forget a cushion.

Get your tickets online here.

You can use your NSW Discover voucher at this event, but you must get your pre-purchase your ticket.

Download your voucher and take it to either the Curious Kookaburra in Keen St, or Music Bizarre in Magellan St.

Some tickets will available at one entry gate, but organisers advise pre-buying tickets to help speed up entry.

You can get a wristband if you want to leave the showground and return later.

Covid sign-in is mandatory, so don’t leave it until the last minute to arrive at the showground.
