CAMPAIGNERS fighting to keep the Goonellabah library open were granted a glimmer of hope at Lismore City Council's meeting last night when a vote to investigate alternative funding options to keep the library open was carried unanimously.

But with a final vote on the 2012/13 budget not due until the council's extraordinary meeting on June 25, library supporters will have to wait until then to find out if the facility will remain open.

The vote comes after a petition of more than 900 signatures opposing the closure was delivered to Lismore City Council last Saturday.
