A former Bangalow jeweller has failed to front court to work through a claim from a former client.

David Sean Collins was a no-show at Lismore Courthouse on Thursday for an examination of a civil claim from a former customer and a request to surrender a number of documents regarding his financial situation.

Mr Collins used to run a jewellery store on Lismore Road, Bangalow.

According to court documents, the jeweller received an order from the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal in April 2021 to pay $6358 to Ms Artemis, a former client currently living in Ewingsdale.

The order was for a number of valuable items not returned to Ms Artemis.

The examination order at Lismore Civil Court required Mr Collins to surrender a number of documents regarding his current financial situation.

The documents demanded by the court included pay slips for the past six months, personal income tax returns, group certificates, loans, bank books, bank accounts and credit card statements.

The court also requested proof of any vehicles owned by Mr Collins, certificate of titles of any properties under his name or any other goods that may be able to help repay the debt.

Mr Collins’ Bangalow shop closed down in early 2020, but comments from former customers on his business Facebook page show some of them were still trying to contact him 12 months ago.

The examination order dated September 10 issued to Mr Collins asked the jeweller to attend the proceedings.

“If you do not attend court on this date at this time and place, you may be arrested,” the order said.

Mr Collins now has 28 days to contact the court and surrender the requested documents.

If Mr Collins fails to offer the court the information required, then Ms Artemis could decide to request an arrest warrant against Mr Collins.

Attempts to contact Mr Collins via phone and email were unsuccessful.
