A new community and sports facility has been delivered to Ballina Shire Council.

The new Community and Sports Amenities Building at the Epiq sports fields is located opposite Epiq Marketplace off Hutley Drive.

Developer Clarence Property handed over the precinct to council this week.

Clarence Property General Manager Paul Rippon said the sports fields, which cost $3.5 million to construct, were designed to host cricket, football, rugby and regional level AFL.

The adjoining sports fields were delivered to council in 2019.

The amenities building, which cost $2.5 million, includes impressive change rooms for both players and umpires, an office, a timekeeper’s room, a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen and a community meeting space.

A Ballina Shire Council spokeswoman said council was excited to be the recipient of facilities that will cater to a variety of sports in the community.

“We have had interest from a number of clubs so far, and look forward to working with each of them,” she said.

“The new amenities building has a great light-filled space to cater for small events, functions or even a pilates class.

“It also has one smaller meeting room that will be great for health providers.

“With ample carparking available, and a convenient location we are looking forward to showing off this new facility to the community in December 2021.”

Epiq Lennox already boasts more than 350 house lots, 22 hectares of rehabilitated and revegetated parks, wetlands and littoral rainforest, the Woolworths-anchored shopping centre Epiq Marketplace and childcare centre Harmony Early Learning.

Peter Fahey, Clarence Property’s Managing Director, said Clarence Property is now moving into the next phase of developments at Epiq including more residential lots, ‘live-and-work’ properties and a number of freehold terrace homes.
