Driver dies after single vehicle smash at Ellangowan

The driver of a Ford ute which hit a power pole near Casino earlier this month has died in hospital.

A man who lost control of his vehicle and struck a power pole at Ellangowan earlier this month has died in hospital.

The 43-year-old was flown to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition after the crash on August 5.

Emergency services were called to Avenue Rd, Ellangowan, about 20km south of Casino, after reports of a single-vehicle crash at about 7.30am.

The Ford utility was reportedly travelling southwest when it lost control.

The man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics as officers from Richmond Police District opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Police have since been notified the man died in hospital on Saturday.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
