Thirty days before the program ends, Northern NSW residents still have more than 250,000 unused NSW Dine & Discover vouchers in their wallets, which means there is more than $6.7 million waiting to go to local businesses.
A NSW Government spokesman said all NSW residents aged 18 and over can apply for four $25 vouchers, two for dining at a cafe or restaurant, and two for recreation at cultural institutions, live music or art venue.
- In the Tweed, 173,728 vouchers were issued, but only 52,263 redeemed so far, with 121,465 still unused.
- In the Lismore LGA, 81,784 vouchers were issued, but only 21,614 have been redeemed, with 60,170 still valid.
- In the Byron Shire, 59,732 vouchers were issued, with 18,181 redeemed and 41,551121,465 still unused.
- In the Richmond Valley area, 43,512 vouchers were issued, with 9993 redeemed so far, and 33,519 still unused.
- In Kyogle, 14,188 vouchers were issued, but 2677 were redeemed so far, with 11,511 still unused.
At $25 each, the 268,216 vouchers not redeemed yet could mean an injection of $6,705,400 to the local economy.
The spokesman reminded residents that vouchers were valid until June 30, 2021.
“We encourage everyone to apply and redeem their vouchers before they expire,” he said.
“Customers can register for their vouchers online using their MyService NSW account.
“Once approved, customers will receive their vouchers via email and on the Service NSW app.
“If a customer does not have a smartphone, email or internet access, they can also visit their nearest Service NSW Centre to register and print out their vouchers.”
Vouchers are single-use and cannot be used for takeaway meals, online food orders, tobacco, alcohol or gambling.
If you have successfully applied for the vouchers, they will be available in your Service NSW Mobile App and sent to your account email.
If you use less than the $25 value of the voucher, the remaining value is forfeited and may not be used later nor reimbursed by the business.
Both printed vouchers and digital vouchers are accepted by participating businesses. To find out where you can redeem them, click here.
