The Lismore Eisteddfod has fallen victim to the coronavirus pandemic for the second year in the row.

Organisers took to their website on Tuesday, August 3 to announce the massive performing arts competition would not go ahead due to Covid-19.

The 2020 Lismore Eisteddfod was also cancelled due to Covid-19 concerns.

“Due to government restrictions implemented to control the spread of Covid-19, all suitable venues have now been closed to us,” organisers wrote.

“Therefore, sadly, we are unable to host the 2021 Lismore Eisteddfod. As a result we have had to cancel all scheduled competitions in our 109th Eisteddfod.

“All competitors will receive a refund of their entry fee minus the processing fee. Please bear with us as we work through refund arrangements.

“We are devastated and we’re sure everyone associated with the Lismore Eisteddfod will also feel the disappointment and loss that comes with a second year of cancellation.

“We offer our sincere thanks for your support. We are hoping for better things in 2022.”

Many families voiced their disappointment on the Facebook page accompanying the news.

“Noooooo second year in a row! This makes us so sad,” one wrote.

“Oh what a shame, we love coming down as a dance school to Lismore Eisteddfod,” said a Gold Coast dance teacher.
