One half of a duo accused of an armed robbery at a Lismore boat ramp has fronted court with new charges.

Craig Euston Cowan, 30, had his matters heard before Lismore Local Court on Monday, July 26.

He faces multiple charges relating to the incident at the boat ramp, including two counts of driving dangerously in a police pursuit, two counts of driving a motor vehicle during a disqualification period, stealing a motor vehicle, using an offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention, and attempting to stalk/intimidate with the intent to cause fear or harm (domestic).

However, on his Monday mention, another nine charges were added to his case.

These included driving dangerously in a police pursuit, two more counts of driving a motor vehicle during a disqualification period, dishonestly obtaining property by deception, driving a conveyance without the consent of its owner, driving an unregistered class A motor vehicle on the road, two counts of using a class A motor vehicle with an unauthorised licence plate and using an uninsured motor vehicle.

According to Richmond Police, at about 6.45pm on Thursday, July 8 2021, a pair in their 40s were inside a vehicle near the Ballina St Bridge boat ramp when the two men, believed to be Mr Cowan and his co-accused, allegedly approached them and threatened the couple with knives, demanding the keys to their 2021 Subaru XV.

Police will allege a short scuffle ensued between the 48-year-old man and the two men before he handed over the keys and the pair fled the scene in the Subaru.

The white hatchback, driven by another man, also fled the scene.

Police conducting Tabulam patrols later sighted a stolen Kia Cerato about 1.30pm on Friday, July 9.

Police will allege officers attempted to stop the vehicle on the Bruxner Hwy after the Kia allegedly tried to ram their police car.

But the stolen vehicle allegedly did not stop when directed and police initiated a pursuit.

The vehicle continued east along the Bruxner Hwy, before road spikes were successfully deployed just outside of Casino.

The car stopped at a roundabout on Centre St, Casino and the two men allegedly jumped out.

They were later arrested but have not entered formal pleas.

Mr Cowan is yet to enter any formal pleas.

Magistrate Jeff Linden adjourned the matter for a brief committal status mention on September 29 at Lismore Local Court.

Mr Cowan will also return to Lismore Local Court on August 9 for a police mention at Lismore Local Court.
