THE Goonellabah Sports and Aquatic Centre will celebrate its fifth birthday tomorrow with a day of celebrations including a Fitness Fair in the morning and Pool Family Fun Day in the afternoon.

The big day of fun and celebration at the centre on Oliver Avenue, which runs from 9am to 4pm, is also a fundraiser, helping to raise funds for the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter, Centre Manager Graham Walker explained.

Mr Walker said a fundraiser felt like the perfect way to celebrate GSAC's birthday with the community.

"We have tried very hard to build a business that caters for everyone in our community, from families with young children right through to the elderly," he said.

Gym manager Julie Speidel said it had been amazing to watch the gym grow over the last five years, to become something so valued and loved by so many community members and groups.

All are invited to come along and celebrate with GSAC.

The Fitness Fair will kick off at 9am with teams from the Rescue Helicopter and local police, fire brigade, ambulance, GSAC staff/members and lifeguards competing in a circuit event including fun games such as egg and spoon races plus strength and cardio activities.

There will be group fitness classes that anyone can join, a cake cutting and a raffle draw featuring prizes donated by local businesses, before an afternoon Pool Family Fun Day from 12pm.

Join in a sausage sizzle courtesy of the Rotary Club of Summerland Sunrise.
