Carl Remy John Maher, 34 faces Lismore court over alleged hit and run while disqualified from driving

A Northern Rivers man was allegedly driving disqualified when he fled the scene of a crash. Here’s the latest.

A Northern Rivers man was allegedly driving disqualified when he fled the scene of a crash.

Carl Remy John Maher, 34, had his case mentioned at Lismore Local Court On Wednesday, before Magistrate Michael Dakin.

Maher is currently in custody on remand and excused from appearing, the court was told.

Maher has been charged with two counts of driving while disqualified and two counts of failing to stop and assist after an impact causing injury.

He has also been charged with not giving particulars to another driver, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and causing bodily harm by misconduct while in charge of a motor vehicle.

No pleas have been entered to the extensive string of charges.

Legal Aid lawyer Katharine Brady told the court she was expecting a shorter version of police facts.

Mr Dakin told the court all paperwork needed to be prepared and the case was adjourned to Byron Bay Local Court on May 13.
