South Lismore Bunnings lodge expansion with council

Bunnings wants to expand its popular trade and gardening store at a busy South Lismore site. Have a look at their plans.

Lismore Bunnings will be expanded should the company’s latest development application be approved.

Lismore tradies are in for a treat as plans are revealed to expand the South Lismore Bunnings Warehouse.

A development application to expand the Bruxner Highway spot was lodged to Lismore City Council in late August but the full plans have only just become available.

While no estimated costs have been revealed, the application says the works will bring a “greater efficiency” to business’s operations.

According to development details, it would include an expansion of the timber trade sales section and more warehouse space.

Bunnings area manager Deb Thompson said the application was a modification to the existing approved development.

“The proposed expansion would see customers benefit from a much wider range of home and lifestyle products, backed by great service from the local Lismore team,” she said.

“The works would include an additional retail area to the warehouse and a new drive-through trade area, adding over 2800sq m to the current store.

“While a start date is yet to be confirmed, we look forward to providing updates to the community as the project progresses.”

The South Lismore site is expected to grow by 2800sq m.

Other features include bicycle parking, additional trolley storage bays and a pedestrian access ramp to promote foot traffic between the Bunnings and HomeCo sites safely without needing to drive.

An extra 120 parking spaces would also be included to take the total for the site to more than 330.

It comes on the back of several other development applications for the area, including an ambitious $1.5 million medical centre in the Home Co centre.

Residents will have until October 25 to have their say on the development, which is currently on exhibition.
