An Australian property giant is carving out new plans to further revamp Lismore’s former Masters site.
Home Co, the group behind the 2016 acquisition of Masters hardware stores and their transformation into shopping centres, has launched a fresh development application with Lismore City Council for 28 Bruxner Highway, South Lismore.
The proposal details plans for an ambitious medical centre to be constructed, including 18 general practitioners within eight consultation rooms and two dental rooms.
According to preliminary estimations, the centre is expected to cost $1.5 million.
The space would be located in the existing parking area directly west of existing tenants, and adjacent to the driveway access from the Bruxner Hwy.
Currently, the main premises is home to Betta Home Living, BCF, Spotlight, Choice The Discount Store and Sassy Bean Cafe.
Sydney Tools has recently opened in the centre.
Home Co previously sought consent to convert tenancy two into a medical centre, but following detailed consideration, they decided to create a specific purpose designed building for the medical centre land use and an additional specialised retail tenancy floor area.
The application also hinted at the possibility for job opportunities, with an expected “ancillary employment for nursing and administration services with the operational staff equating to some 25 persons, including practitioners”.
The practice is proposed to operate seven days, from 8am-7pm Monday to Friday and 9am-2pm on Saturday and Sunday.
It is believed the internal fit out for both tenancies will be subject to separate approvals through stand-alone applications to Council.
Home Co currently operates 35 centres in five states across Australia.
The development proposal is currently on exhibition here.
Lismore residents will have until June 9 to have their say on the plans.
