Bookworms can now Click and Collect from Richmond Tweed Regional Library

A former mayor and retired teacher said she found using the online service from the library’s website was easy and safe.

Bookworms rejoice, Richmond Tweed Regional Library now offers Click and Collect across all of its facilities.

While all branches are closed, the new Click and Collect service, and the online library, remain active.

Richmond Tweed Regional Library is offering a Click and Collect service where members can reserve items, book a collection time, mask up, check in, and show their library card at the door to collect items.

Former Lismore mayor Jenny Dowell said she was an avid reader and the new service was perfect for her.

Mrs Dowell, who was a teacher for 48 years and is now an avid reader, said she found the new system easy to navigate and book.

“I received an email telling me the books were ready,” she said.

“You then phone to make an appointment to collect. When you arrive to collect, you check in using the QR code and step behind a line. All was done outside and very safe.

“The librarian opens the door, puts the books on a chair, goes inside again and closes door. You step forward and collect your books,” she said.

Readers can reserve books from on the library catalogue (accessible from the library’s website) or staff can select up to 20 items for them.

Acting Regional Library Manager, Lucy Kinsley was happy to offer the service to their thousands of users in the Ballina, Lismore, Tweed and Byron areas.

“While the online library is popular, not everyone has internet access or a device to read or listen to a book on,” she said.

“This service will allow more people to access library items in a time of need.”

Residents can join the library online for instant access to eBooks, eAudiobooks, and eMagazines, and current members can access the new Click and Collect service now.
