BOM cancels severe storm warning, but more forecast for on Friday

The Bureau of Meteorology has cancelled a severe storm warning which was issued on Thursday night.
But the bureau has warned further storm activity is likely on Friday.
Thursday evening’s warning related to much of NSW, including a threat of giant hail for areas including Grafton and Coffs Harbour.
Large hail and damaging winds were expected for most of the Northern Rivers.
The bureau cancelled the storm warning shortly after 5am Friday.
“Severe thunderstorms have eased for now, but more are expected later today,” a statement from the bureau said.
Forecasts for Friday have indicated storms are possible for a large portion of NSW, including the Tweed, Lismore, Byron, Ballina, Grafton, Coffs Harbour and Tenterfield areas.

The weather bureau has warned giant hailstones and damaging winds are likely to impact parts of NSW tonight.
A severe storm warning issued by the bureau relates to much of the state, including the Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast.

The warning said “severe thunderstorms” were expected to produce “large, possible giant hailstones and damaging winds over the next several hours” for a range of regions including Grafton, Coffs Harbour, Armidale, Tamworth, Gunnedah and Narrabri.
Lismore is also expected to be impacted by damaging winds and large hail, along with many other parts of the state.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
* Keep at least 8m away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences.
* Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill.
* Trees that have been damaged by fire are likely to be more unstable and more likely to fall.
* Unplug computers and appliances.
* Avoid using the phone during the storm.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
* Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. Note that the landscape may have changed following bushfires.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500.
The bureau is expected to issue its next warning by 8.35pm.
