A pedestrian is lucky to be alive after being struck by a vehicle in the states north.
Emergency services were called to Forest Rd, just north of Woodburn bridge, 34km south of Lismore around 10.30pm on Friday after reports a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.
A man believed to be in his late teens was crossing Forest Rd when he was struck by a passing car.
Police state the driver stopped to assist and was taken for mandatory testing yet did not confirm the outcome of the mandatory testing.
Paramedics attended to a man believed to be in his late teens, with assistance from the critical care team from the Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter.
He was treated for serious head and chest injuries.
Paramedics stabilised him and he was taken by ambulance to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter base at Lismore.
He was further stabilised and flown immediately to the Gold Coast University hospital in a critical but stable condition for further treatment.
