CALEM McDavid, 11, smiles and waves from his wheelchair, but all he really longs to do is escape from it.

Calem's condition has not yet been formally diagnosed, but he has a number of challenges due to seizures he suffered as a baby.

His family's current rental home in East Lismore doesn't allow for Calem to be out of his wheelchair for long periods of time.

Calem's mother, Summer Nanscawen, dreams of raising enough money through GoFundMe to be able to provide a home space that would allow for Calem to be out of his wheelchair more often.

"Our aim is to get a purpose built home for Calem," said Ms Nanscawen. "We want to build a sensory room so he can be out of his chair.

"We want to basically give him the best quality of life we can. At the moment he is stuck here (in his chair) and he really just loves to get out of his chair."

Calem also loves to be outside, but he can only be in their current yard for short periods using the trampoline.

Aside from the dream of a purpose built home, the family is also fundraising to cover their ongoing expenses.

The family were grateful to receive a transport van for Calem last year, but need help to cover the upkeep of the van, therapy and medical expenses.
