Yamba real estate has reached a new record over the weekend with a two-apartment property selling at auction for over $5 million.
Located at 21 Ocean Street, the most sought-after street in Yamba that overlooks Convent Beach 100 metres away, Saturday’s auction attracted over 200 people.
Elders Real Estate Yamba agent Vikki Seekamp said there had been very strong interest in the property from the get-go.
“We had eight open houses, lots of inspections, along with people from the US, Canada and New Zealand interested in the property,” she said.
“Someone there was bidding on behalf of someone else in the United States.”
During the auction, Ms Seekamp said there were 12 bidders and a further six people bidding over the phone.
“There were lots of registered bidders ready to pay the amount it went for,” she said.
The two apartments both feature three bedrooms, two bathrooms and secure parking for a total of four cars.
Both apartments also have large ocean facing verandas, with the lower level apartment featuring a rear, private alfresco dining area.
The living areas consist of lounge, dining and kitchen and have floor to ceiling glass designed to capture the never ending ocean view from the break wall around to Lovers Point and along Convent Beach.
Ms Seekamp said the winning bidders, who did not wish to disclose the final sale price, were a family from regional Australia who frequently visit Yamba for their holidays.
This is not the first time this property has reached into the millions. In July 2016, the 463 square metre solid double brick construction was sold for $3 million.
