Clarence Valley Dairy staff hope someone in the community can help them find a slasher that was stolen from the property.
“It had been sitting there for months and months, then all of a sudden it was gone,” farm hand Maverick Wallis said.
“Unfortunately, we don’t have an exact time of when it was taken because it had been tucked away out of sight and in a spot we hardly come past.”
Mr Wallis said it was odd the people who took it didn’t notice the more expensive farm equipment sitting only a few metres away from the slasher.
“The slasher is worth about $2000 while the four-in-one bucket and the bale grabber that was sitting right next to it, both of them are worth much more, but they weren’t touched,” he said.
While staff have little clue as to who the culprits could be, Mr Wallis said they had likely been watching the place or knew the movements of staff.
“No one had been living on site at the time, so they would have known that, to come up and take the slasher,” he said.
There has been someone staying on site since the incident.
Mr Wallis said this wasn’t the first time items had been stolen from the dairy farm.
“A few months ago my motorbike was stolen,” he said.
“I left around 2pm that day, came back the next morning and found my toolbox on the concrete, out in the weather.
“I found a set of tracks walking up the driveway, and a second set of tracks pushing a motorbike back down the driveway.”
