The driver of a semi-trailer which rolled onto its side on the Pacific Highway near Broadwater on Sunday morning has escaped the wreckage unhurt.

New South Wales Fire and Rescue were called to the incident shortly after 6.45 to support the Rural Fire Service - and on arrival the driver of the semi was already out of the truck.

A truck from Evans Head fire and rescue and a hazardous materials unit from Goonellabah attended, along with a Wardell Rural Fire Service truck.

NSW Ambulance also had one crew at the scene, however no one was injured.

A Fire and Rescue spokesman said firefighters contained a minor diesel leak from the stricken semi-trailer.

One of the two northbound lanes on the highway were closed while emergency services worked the scene.

Live Traffic NSW advised motorists to reduce speed in the area and to exercise caution.

It’s understood the semi-trailer will be recovered later on Sunday.
