Man 38, dies of injuries in Grafton hospital after Mary and Bacon streets intersection crash in April

A man has died in hospital after he crashed his motorcycle into a car in the state’s north almost two months ago, suffering critical injuries. Here’s the latest.

A man has died in hospital after he crashed his motorcycle into a car in the state’s north almost two months ago, suffering critical injuries.

Emergency services were called to the a two-vehicle crash involving the motorbike and a sedan at the intersection of Mary and Bacon streets in Grafton about 5.30am on April 18.

The 38-year-old rider was treated at the scene for critical head, chest and limb injuries.

He was flown to Gold Coast University Hospital for further treatment.

The rider died at Grafton hospital late last week, police have advised.

However, NSW Police advised on Wednesday afternoon officers had been told the rider died at Grafton Base Hospital last Friday.

The 48-year-old man driving the sedan was not physically injured in the crash, but was taken to Grafton Hospital for mandatory alcohol and drug testing.

Police said on Wednesday an investigation into the incident was ongoing, but it was not expected charges would be laid.

Police will prepare a brief for the Coroner.
