A Yamba man has been found dead in the Clarence River after a week-long search sparked by a missing person’s report.
Douglas Lucas, 65, was last heard from about 9pm on Monday.
It is believed he purchased a bus ticket earlier that day, with the intention of travelling to Brunswick Heads on Tuesday.
He could not be contacted or located.
Officers attached to Coffs/Clarence Police District were notified and began inquiries into Mr Lucas’ whereabouts.
Tragically, his body was located around 8:20am this morning.
The discovery came during a multi-agency search involving general duties police and Coffs Harbour Water Police, NSW Police Divers, and NSW Surf Rescue jet ski and drone resources.
Mr Lucas’ body was found in the river at Yamba.
At this stage, the death is not being considered suspicious, police have confirmed.
A report is being prepared for the Coroner.
