A man has suffered critical head injuries after he came off his trail bike on a rural property south of Grafton at the weekend.
At around 4pm on Sunday afternoon, emergency services were called to a property along Clearview Road, Coutts Crossing following reports of a person injured while riding a trail bike.
Police and NSW Ambulance arrived on scene to find a 38-year-old man suffering critical head injuries. As a result, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to the location.
However, severe weather proved challenging for the Helicopter Critical Care Team and it had to depart soon after, to avoid being grounded.
Despite this tricky situation, NSW Ambulance paramedics and the Helicopter Critical Care Medical Team successfully treated and stabilised the man before transporting him to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition for further specialist treatment.
